The total amount that the People’s Book Project has managed to raise in the past 8 days when it was officially launched was $180.00
I began writing a chapter (which I am planning to publish online as an individual report/article) on the history and evolution of the Israel-Palestine conflict.
In the past week, I have put in 15 hours on this chapter, at $15/hour, for a total of $180.00.
This leaves the Project without any funds at present.
The current chapter I am working on traces the Palestine-Israel conflict from the 1800s onward, discussing the relationship to empire, the anti-Semitic pogroms in Russia, and the role of the powerful Rothschild family. Essentially, the notion of a “Jewish state” in Palestine was put forward as an imperial strategy to locate a Western “buffer state” in the Middle East in order to exert control over that increasingly important region and its resources, and to prevent the emergence of any potentially threatening Arabist, pan-Arab, or Arab nationalist movement which could threaten Western dominance of the region. The Rothschilds, at the heart of the British Empire, were central in this entire process.
I plan to continue this analysis going up to the actual formation of the state of Israel, and its subsequent actions and relationship with the West and the region in which it is located. I plan to bring this analysis right up to the present day, and end with an examination of various people’s movements, ideas, and strategies aimed at resolving this conflict. Is a two-state solution really a ‘solution’? What are other options? How can this be effectively sought out? What serves the best interests of all parties involved, whether Arab or Israeli, Muslim, Christian or Jewish?
If you would like to support this book, and currently see this chapter (which I will publish online due to the present relevance of the situation in Israel-Palestine), please support the People’s Book Project! Thank you very much!
